Calling my family & friends, fellow Manchester City fans, Mancunians, York residents, Pharma Alliance clients, pharmaceutical companies plus any body else who knows me, and those who simply want to support a really deserving cause.

I am embarking on a trek with an enthusiastic team of friends and colleagues.  We share a mutual goal of raising money to help improve the lives of some of the poorest people in the world. 

VSO Tanzania works with government and non-state agencies to help disadvantaged people make a viable living.

The trek is both a personal challenge and the opportunity to give to a charity that makes a real difference.  Training has now started in earnest.  Alcohol is not exactly banned but it is certainly curtailed. 

Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in Africa at 5,896 metres.  We take the Machame route, apparently the more demanding climb.  I am however confident I will emerge from the "Death Zone" with my faculties in tact, fingers crossed!
