Story
In 2003 I ran the Paris Marathon and ended up suffering for days with stiff limbs and stated categorically that I would never do such a stupid thing voluntarily ever again. However, I have been cajoled into another outing in November and have therefore been pounding the streets of London (and Sydney and wherever else I have found myself) during the summer. The soul redeeming aspects are that the marathon is in New York, so at least it is a fantastic backdrop, and I hear you say that surely a holiday there would have presented exactly the same feature, but also it's for charity, mate.
This year I'm raising money for the brilliant guys at Help the Hospices who support hospices caring for people facing the end of life and offering support and assistance to their families. All Team Run for Hospice runners are encouraged to understand the charity and its values, so we are going along to the HQ next week to meet the people and get a feel for how they actually operate. It's a great cause and any donations that you can afford will be graciously accepted ... the only downside is the nasty garish yellow, blue and orange running vest that they have provided, but at least my travelling supporters with their pompons will be able to pick me out of the crowds.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Hospices will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
