Story
Following on from my fundraising achievement for Marie Curie Cancer Care last year with the Bike the Baltic event, this year I am going for a slighty different challenge - I shall be climbing, with 9 friends, to the summit of the Ben Nevis mountain in Scotland, the UKs highest peak, at over 4000ft.
I'm doing this climb as I wanted to take apart in a challenge again whereby I could raise money for Marie Curie, a charity that I feel is very much a worthwhile cause. After a Bike the Baltic reunion last year, and hearing a Marie Curie nurse's story about her personal experience looking after patients during their final days, and how Marie Curie's assitantance goes a long way, it has further inspired me to try and do my bit each year to raise money, to help other people when they most need it.......so this is my challenge for 2009!
It would be with great appreciated if you would be able to support my challenge and in raising valuable money for Marie Curie.
UPDATE: I have just returned from Wales where I successfully reached the summit of Snowdon. As a spot of light preperation, taking the most difficult route up, it took 4hours from the lowest starting point upto the top. Climbing just over 1000 metres, the path was a mixture of rock inclines with a tough steep loose rock area near the top, which wasn't for the faint hearted. Ben Nevis is yet taller and tougher than Snowdon.
