Story
WE DID IT!!
On the hottest marathon day ever we managed to drag ourselves around and across the finish line in a respectable time for first (and only) timers of 5 hours, 25 minutes.
Whilst others around us walked, staggered or passed out with heat exhaustion we soldiered on, and managed to run the whole distance, slowly but surely, until we eventually reached the end! The last 4 miles were really, really hard in the hot sun and the last 800 metres went on for ever!
We saw blind runners, runners on crutches, a man with one leg - all dragging themselves around to raise money for other people - human nature at its very best! It made us feel very humble to be a part of this spectacular event and we were very moved by the sheer determination of the charity runners to get around the course at any cost.
A big thank you for all the messages and texts of support both before and after the event - we were very touched.
A very special thank you to Ian, Alex, Lucy, Diccon, Rebecca, Bethan, Eric and Esther who came up on the day to support us and gave us a much needed boost at 15 miles.
It was a very special day for us, even though so physically gruelling, and one we will always remember.
Thank you for all your donations - we are well on target to raise the £3000 for CLIC Sargent.
WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!
