Story

TLC are raising funds for Flying Start, which is the global charity partnership between Comic Relief & British Airways, and Macmillan Cancer Support

We are doing this through Grand Charity who will be splitting 100% of the funds raised from this page 50/50 between both charities.

TLC who are we ..... also known as Team Lamb Chops (TLC), is in honour of how a group of like minded individuals met at a convenient establishment, that then developed into Tender Loving Care.

During our lifetime we will all know someone who has been affected by cancer.  That's why for Team TLC a cancer support charity was an immediate choice.  However with so many amazing cancer charities to choose from it was a tough decision to make.  We chose Macmillan Cancer Support because we feel this charity offers support and care to the individuals living with cancer, as well as to their families.

The aim of Flying Start is to help support children living incredibly tough lives in the UK and around the world.  Our children are the future of this planet, so every child deserves a chance to have a bright one.  Team TLC would like to help support this amazing cause, because we believe that no child should be denied basic resources and education, which a lot of us take for granted.

So what are we doing:

Our hope and aim is to raise as many funds as possible for Flying Start and Macmillan Cancer Support by doing a number of activities.

On the 13th September we completed the Windsor to London bike ride.  Between us we cycled over 220 miles.

23rd May 2015 we will be taking on The National Three Peaks Challenge.  TLC members lined up are Jasminder, Anoop, Chas, Jitu, Amer with two nominated drivers Kavi and Jasdeep.

Your donation can help in so many ways, for example:

  • Just £1 could give a child in Kenya five exercise books which will last a whole term at school.
  • £7 could provide a week’s worth of meals for an extremely poor working child in India.
  • £10 could keep five typical Macmillan information and support centres stocked with all the information resources they need to support people affected by cancer for one hour.
  • £10 could pay for an hour of much-needed counselling for a street child in Brazil who has experienced violence and exploitation
  • £20 could pay for a Macmillan benefits adviser to work in a Citizens Advice Bureau for an hour, where they would advise people with cancer, their families and carers so they can access benefits and other kinds of financial support they are entitled to.
  •  £25 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
  • £40 could enable a young person in the UK who is caring for a sick relative to take a much-needed break from their adult duties and have a day out with other young people in similar situations.
  • £50 could pay for a Macmillan Grant that buys someone with cancer a microwave, making it easier for them to prepare their food.
  • £50 could buy a sewing machine for a woman living in extreme poverty in Uganda. The machine gives her the opportunity to earn an income so that she can feed her family.
  • £70 could help run a large Macmillan information and support centre for one hour.
