Starting on March 24th 2007, I will be testing the limits of my strength, willpower and endurance by competing in the fabled 'Marathon des Sables'. This involves running, walking or crawling for 150 miles across the Sahara desert in 6 daily stages, ranging between 13 and 50 miles in length, with temperatures of up to 120 degrees F in the shade (although there is no shade!). Dehydration, heat stroke and severe foot trauma are constant risks and this will certainly test my limits to the full. At the end of it I can walk away, however, and return to my normal, comfortable lifestyle. People with sight problems have to cope with challenges every day of their lives. I am thus asking you to sponsor me so that we can make their lives a little better. A Guide Dog can transform the life of a blind person, providing comfort, companionship, independance and a sense of worth but if it wasn't for people like you there would be no Guide Dogs as no government fundung is provided.
