Well hello -
Im Tom, trying to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats from 21st July 09
for CHILDREN OF THE ANDES
- so, wherever you are and what ever you are doing, I bet your backside is feeling better than mine : )
...thats because being typically unorganised, iv only just got this page online, currently 348 miles into the expected 1050....
...... the (many) hills and valleys of the south west are behind me, and the great memories of the 'shortcut' over the Quantok Hills that one local then told me was last years 'king of the mountains' race route.
---- not funny !!
Still we have the Peaks, the Lakes, and the Highlands of Scotland to get through yet, my front wheels a little bent, and one could fry eggs on certain parts of my anatomy if so inclined.
So why bother you say ?
Currently thats a very good point, but the ral reason other that achievement, bravado, ra ra etc.... is to raise money for a little known charity currently very dear to a closr relative of mine.
CHILDREN OF THE ANDES was set up in 1991 to support the sewer children in Bogota, Columbia. It has since expanded through chritable dontions, and provides relief from the effects of violence and poverty
and promotes longer-term development through a range of education,
health, protection, and peace-building initiatives.
All donations go directly to the further the work of this charity.
Many thanks for your time and support.
Tom Mendes da Costa
