Story

I managed to complete the run in 59min 21sec's.  Thank you all for your support.

Sponsors will still be accepted through this site until 15/06/07.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

After years of overindulgence and a lack of interest in anything remotely sporty, I have finally decided to haul my ample frame up out the armchair and out on to the streets to start doing some exercise.  I often use to look at runners with a complete lack of understanding; I mean, why would you possibly want to aimlessly run around all red faced and out of breath.  Now that I actually do a spot of aimless running about, I’m beginning to see the appeal, and the pains I endured when I started gradually seem to have disappeared.

When I'd been out for a few runs I felt like I needed a target, a challenge to make it seem a little more worthwhile, so I entered my 1st 10K road race.  After very little preparation I completed the run in 1hr 4min 57sec's, not at all bad (Although I suffered the next day!)

I then decided to enter another run - The BUPA Great Ireland Run - along with 12 other people from A H Marks, the company I work for. We are all raising money for different charities but our aim is the same, to have a good time in Dublin and try to raise as much money for a worthwhile cause as possible (and maybe sample some Guinness while we're there - it'd be rude not to) This time I've done a little more preparation to help me along, I've even had my hair cut to give me that extra bit of an edge.  So hopefully I'll complete the course faster than Leeds.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Derian House Children’s Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Visit http://www.derianhouse.co.uk/ for more information on the amazing work that Derian House Children’s Hospice actually does.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support
