Story

I MADE IT!
Race day dawned dry but windy, and I completed the 13-mile course in 2 hours 5 minutes, on my own! Because the race was cancelled (flooded course) I devised my own cross country half marathon taking in Castle Bottom, Bramshill plantation, Eversely and Finchampstead churches (I didn't stop to sing!) and mile upon mile of ankle-deep mud along the tracks. Back via Finchampstead Ridges and Horseshoe Lake where the Blackwater has overflowed its banks again.
Our son Nick set off valiently with me on his bike, but succumbed to a puncture quite early and had to give up. as a result, few photos were taken. I'll try to post those that were.
Thanks to all my sponsors - £1800 raised so far- but it's not too late to add your sponsorship if you haven't already...
I get free entry to next year's race (No refunds of race fees). The question is, Will I want to run next year?!

Aaargh! Just been told that the Wokingham Half Marathon has been cancelled due to flooding on the course in several places. I still plan to run a half marathon distance on Sunday morning starting from home via Castle Bottom, Eversley Church, Finchampstead Church and Finchampstead Ridges; probably 14 miles in total. I do hope my sponsors are still happy for their money to go towards the excellent work of Prospects....

2 days to go and 24% of target reached! Need a few more sponsors...

Update 2/Feb/14. My birthday! Just a week to go to the race, and so far, donations on line and otherwise total £962, 15% of the target. Great to have so many people supporting Prospects and me. Please share this/ pass on to others; let's hit that target!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm passionate about the great work being done by Prospects, giving people with learning disabilities the chance to live life to the full. To celebrate reaching the grand old age of 66 I'm running (or should it be staggering?) the Wokingham half marathon, raising funds to support Prospects' programme to help churches be more inclusive. I've been with Prospects for over 26 years, and seen countless lives transformed over that time. Your donation will help Prospects keep up the good work! In advance, Thank You!
