Story
We completed the Highland Endurance Race over the weekend of September 18th / 19th and are now nursing our aches, pains, bruises and broken bones; see photos.
The mountain bike section of 40.3 miles involved over 5000 feet of hill climbs and took us 5 hours and 10 minutes, but cost us the broken collar bone of Jamie Edgar and the manly honour of Duncan Hay who also took a bad tumble.
We transitioned to canoes for the second stage, 8.4 miles of Loch Oich, with 3 hard hours rowing. The final stage, a 16 mile hike over Ben Nevis took us 6 hours, cresting the top at 10.30am Sunday in sub-zero temperatures.
It was hard, but worth it for the great cause and money we raised. We finished 6th overall of 26 teams and we are most proud of the fact that we won the trophy for most funds raised for this great cause.
Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and well-wishers, but most of all, thank you to our fantastic support crew, Peter Condon and Steve Jackson, who gave up 4 days to nurse, cajole, feed, supply and generally look after us during our exertions.
