According to official figures over 60 thousand people have died and 1 and half million people are homeless. They are having to drink from the same water in which dead corpses are floating and people are having to deficate.
The victims need shelter, food and water sanitisation kits.
The DEC is co-ordinating an emergency appeal to fund work across the region - providing cash support, health care and vital equipment.
