Story

The Sexy Six in Spandex (Kevin Boylan, Julian Marshall, Alex Marshall, Richard Bishop, Craig Smith & Harry Cottee ......) want to welcome you to our fundraising page for the Great Notts 50 mile bike ride on Sunday 23rd June.

With inspiration from Kev to get this up and running, we have all agreed as "Cycling Novices" that we will participate in the Great Notts Bike Ride in order to raise money for our two charities, who are Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA) and the British Heart Foundation. As some of us haven't been on a bike for many years and have allowed our perfect physiques to suffer, then we are taking this very seriously and have in place a strict training regime to ensure we are fit and ready for June 23rd.....!!

We have all been affected in some way or another with family and friends suffering with heart complications, so by completing this cycle ride and raising money we intend to give something back to the Charities who work tiredlessly providing help and support to families and individuals who may experience similar.

Some of our experiences hit hard and hurt for a lifetime. On May 13th 2009 I suddenly lost my beautiful little girl Sophia, at the time we had no idea what the cause was. We were to find out that she had a rare Heart condition, a form of Cardiomyopathy which had gone undetected and left us all devastated. The Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA) work tirelessly offering information, facts, support, nursing care, network and experience sharing as well as pushing to improve detection, so that support can be given and treatment administered to improve living with the conditions of Cardiomyopathy. I would love to think that whatever we raise might go towards preventing another family going through what we are and support raising the awareness of this condition of the heart. (Julian)

On the 11 February 2012 my father Paul, passed away following a run around his local town. My dad being the kind of man he was though made sure that he got home and completed his run before suffering a heart attack that suddenly and tragically ended his life. Anyone who knew my dad would know that he was pretty much a picture of health, and it struck him totally out of the blue. Whoever said exercise was good for you hey! Anyway I am doing this 50 mile charity bike ride for a couple of reasons, firstly because running is a dangerous activity for a Bishop and secondly to raise money for the charities that work hard to reduce the potential heart brake that my family and myself suffered and will continue to suffer. (Richard)

I am taking part in the 50 Mile Great Nott's Bike ride on June 23rd 2013 to raise money for the following charity's; British Heart Foundation and Cardiomyopathy.

I am doing this in memory of some very special people in my life. Both charity's need people's support and generosity to enable them to help, manage and save peoples lives in this and our future generation's. Every donation is so important to both charity's, so please dig deep. Thank you for your support. (Kevin Boylan)
