It's that time of year again! The time of year when everyone at Turning Point starts to get ridiculously excited about the Bible Holiday Camp.

Every year in August we take the children supported by Turning Point away from Kibera in groups to stay at a boarding school for five days. Bible Holiday Camps are the highlight of the year for the children and you have the chance to make this life-changing experience possible for a child.

Coming from Kibera, it's very easy for these children to view themselves as second or third-class citizens. They are looked down upon by many within Kenyan society and often doubt the possibilities their futures hold. The Bible Holiday Camp provides an opportunity for children to understand that they are special in our eyes and the eyes of the Lord.

By taking the children out of Kibera, giving them a holiday, opportunities to swim and play football on a grass pitch, sleep in a real bed, eat three meals a day, we are valuing them for who they are, helping to show them they are special and that God loves them.

Turning Point’s Bible Holiday Clubs are also preventing a rise in street children during the school holidays. The Clubs ensure that vulnerable children have access to a safe environment and that they are fed and cared for during the school holidays. Without Turning Point’s Holiday Clubs, school going children would become bored during the school holidays and, with no school feeding programme to provide them with lunch, many would turn to the streets to beg or carry out casual jobs in order to earn a small income.
