Story
Who knows how this happened, but AirPlus International and Buying Business Travel have teamed up and volunteered to walk 100km over the South Downs for Oxfam’s Trailwalker 2013.
Trailwalker is recognised around the world as one seriously impressive challenge. The four of us, Julia, Tim and Ulrike from AirPlus along with Paul from BBT, will be huffing and puffing our way over the course in under 30 hours in late July. It’s not an ordinary thing to undertake while most will be sunning themselves on a beach somewhere outside of the UK.
So while you are sitting at home or out at the pub during the weekend, spare a thought for us and the insane amounts of training that we will be going through. And while you’re sparing that thought maybe you could spare a few pounds as well.
When you donate you'll be playing a part in raising more than £1.5m for Oxfam - and the Gurkha Welfare Trust – through the Trailwalker challenge. Just to put some perspective on where your money will be going:
£25 could boost the income and improve the diet of an Ethiopian family by providing them with a sheep or goat
£43 could provide a month’s welfare pension for a deserving old Gurkha in Nepal
£100 could buy a bed for a pensioner in the Oxfam Residential Home
£142 could install a water pump and irrigation system for farmers in Rwanda
And when we reach our target of £1,500 we will have fundraised enough to rebuild two Gurkha’s homes in Nepal.
So come on guys, dig deep and donate now. We may even promise to not complain about our sore feet in return.
Cheers!
Julia, Tim, Ulrike and Paul
