My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Travistrek.co.uk was initiated in 2003 by Scott Cunningham when his super-fit Guide Dog Travis became the 1st Guide Dog to trek the West Highland Way. Amazingly, they have now trekked the 3 main long distance walks in Scotland and with these under their belt, the dynamic duo then looked further afield, and tackled all 268 miles of The Pennine Way in 2007. They crossed the border from England back home to Scotland in 16 continuous walking days. This national trail is continually considered to be one of Britain’s most challenging long distance walks.

This year's trek is the West highland way from south to north.

The dynamic duo will be joined en route from the Highlands of Scotland by some Rangers Greats. Joining Terry Hurlock will be the likes of Arthur Numan, Mark Hately, Andy Goram and other former Gers stars!
Now it’s your chance to walk, talk and enjoy some amazing scenery with some footballing greats and help out Guide Dogs in the process!

visit www.legendstrek.co.uk to keep up to date with the plans and see who is daring enough to join us!

Scott's objective through Legendstrek.co.uk is twofold: he aims to raise much needed funds for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (GDBA), and also hopefully inspire other blind people to embrace challenges, big or small and experience the same sense of motivation and rewards that he has gained from his expeditions. Scott and Travis have raised over £85,000 for the GDBA to date and in this years trek they aim to raise more money and inspire more people than ever before.

The money raised so far has been used to fully train and care for 9 Guide Dog puppies that will eventually be placed with new owners. With your continued support this year, we hope to raise even more and highlight how visually-impaired people can lead full and active lives. You CAN make a difference!

Charity Registration No. in England and Wales 209617 and Scotland SC038979

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of blind and partially sighted people never leave home alone. Guide Dogs empowers visually impaired people to do that and relies totally on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service. We breed and train guide dogs which provide life changing mobility and there are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK. The full lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is £48,500. We will not rest until blind and partially sighted people can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
