Update - Due to a small injury and the fact that I am departing to a Sunny Climate for a few months I have had to postpone the climb until Oct/Nov 2010. Many thanks to all who have sponsored me so far.
Hello and welcome, I am a serving member of the RAF Regiment based in Germany; a few months ago I was fortunate enough to win a small amount of money on the RAF Sports Lottery. I have decided (with my wife’s permission!) that in Mar/Apr 2010 to achieve a lifetime ambition by trekking to Everest Base Camp and attempting to summit Imja Tse (Island Peak), a 6,189 metres (20,305 feet) peak, approx ten kilometres from Everest itself.
Imja Tse was first climbed in 1953 by a British team headed up by Eric Shipton's party as a training exercise in preparation for the successful attempt on Mount Everest. Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was one of the members of the first ascent team.
Furthermore whilst doing this I would like to raise money for charity at the same time, I have decided my chosen charity will be Help for Heroes (H4H), a registered charity which supports injured Servicemen and Servicewomen returning home from the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I sincerely hope you can assist me by sponsoring me in this venture. All sponsorship monies raised will go to H4H, I am funding the whole cost of the trip and expenses personally (about £2000).
If anyone would like to join me in this venture (You pay your own costs) please get in touch with me.
Many thanks for visiting my page and please, please sponsor me for this worthwhile cause.
Don't forget if you do pay UK tax to click Gift Aid, as this will enable H4H to claim the tax back.
Cheers
