Back in 2012, I set off on the biggest physical challenge of my life to run the perimeter of Wales in 40 days (Dragonrun1027). My intention was to raise £20K for my local cancer centre, Velindre. I have raised almost £15,000 (including Gift Aid) and I have every intention of hitting my target.

In 2007 my mum, Anne passed away, and in 2009 after a short battle with cancer my dad, Chris joined her on her cloud. I've channelled my grief into fundraising for a centre that has supported so many that are close to me. I have seen first hand both personally and professionally the outstanding work that is carried out at Velindre, and nothing makes me prouder than to be a Velindre Fundraising Ambassador.

I'm not a natural "athlete", as anyone who went to school with me can attest, but since Dragonrun1027 I have struggled with my mind and the (relatively smaller) challenges that I have carried out since, have been sporadic and felt almost tougher than running around Wales!

I have toyed with the idea of triathlon for 9 years (thanks Timehop!), but me and road cycling are a comical combination so I have always shied away (never mind the concept of combining it with swimming and running!) The time has come though, and I am removing the stabilisers so that I can give it a shot!

This is just one of a number of challenges that I am setting myself, but it is the first where I am very much venturing into the unknown and I have no doubt I will mostly resemble a T-Rex in PE Kit.
