The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to look at our fundraising page. Why Flora London Marathon? The experience, the atmosphere, the challenge. Dave's already a marathon runner, Lisa has started a walk run programme to help to get her through another corneal transplant. Having managed to walk run a few miles, Lisa then blythely decided she too would have a crack at the marathon! So the Nixons are hitting the streets of London together - finishing times will be several hours apart - Dave's hoping for around 4hrs 15, Lisa's hoping to finish on the same day! Why Guide Dogs? We both love labradors. Lisa has sight problems and on visits to the Royal Liverpool Eye Hospital we often see Guide Dogs at work. Guide Dogs do a fantastic job - one even led her master to safety from the 78th floor on 9/11. We do realise that there are so many deserving charities but do hope that you will be able to support us in our marathon effort. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guide Dogs will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us today! Many thanks for your support.
