AR RAHMAH TRUST PRESENTS

'THE WALK FOR SURVIVAL'

THE STORY

Over twenty five million brothers and sisters are homeless in Pakistan’s worst flooding disaster. The crisis began in late July taking many thousands of lives and has devastated theirlivelihoods. The catastrophe is more likely to deepen as more rain is expected and waterborne diseases are breaking.Over three and half a million children will be affected and counting. Pakistan is now facing one of the biggest humanitarian disasters ever known to mankind affecting evenmore people than the boxing day tsunami and Haiti earthquake combined, subhan Allaah. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon described it as a ‘slow motion tsunami’ and the unfolding disaster as it is - the numbers are spinning out ofcontrol.So... What are we able, fortunate brothers and sisters doing in the UK? Masha’Allaah as acountry and a community we are one of the biggest donors towards the Pakistan flood crisis. But let’s not stop there, generations have been displaced. The Pakistani Ummahneeds us not just now but for the long road ahead. Let us unite and commence the challenge to walk to the peak of Ben Nevis (Scotland) and raise money for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan who are in continuous dire need for our support.

“What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of human beings, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the sufferings of the injured.” (Bukhari)

THE CHALLENGE

This is not only a hike up Mt. Ben Nevis, it’s much more. The struggle and endurance needed in climbing this mountain will give us some sense of what victims in Pakistan are going through. Children are walking miles on end through infected waters just to obtain clean water. The longer people are living in these conditions, the higher their vulnerability to disease and infection, so the speed of our response has never been so vital. As we walk up Mt. Ben Nevis we need to keep in our hearts and minds the plight of victims.

THE TARGET

£100000 IS THE TARGET INSHA'ALLAH

The only way that this target will be achieved as well as the Qadar of Allah (SWT) is through each individual’s efforts - So the greater the number of sponsors, the more certain it is that we will reach this target insha’Allah. You can help in one of several ways:

Participating

Sponsoring participants

Donating your Zakat

Donating Sadaqah (Gift Aid)

Remember Zakat is about helping those less fortunate than you and we are all aware of the plight of the Pakistani flood victims. No doubt you do not need to be reminded about the disaster that has devastated a large part of Pakistan as well as the aftermath which is unfolding before your own eyes. So please remember by donating your Zakat or Sadaqah it will go directly to help these flood victims.

For donations of Zakat or Sadaqah, please give any cash donations directly to the participant or alternatively, you can send a postal order/cheque to Ar-Rahmah Trust, PO Box 13574, Solihull, B90 9BS (www.ar-rahmah.org) Please ensure that you write “Flood Victims” on the reverse of the postal order/cheque.

Again, we ask you to remember that by participating in this Journey or by donating to the Journey, there will be brothers and sisters striving to reach the peak of Ben Nevis for the sake of Allah (SWT) and for the Pakistani flood victims
