Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our aim is to share the amount of monies raised equally between the the two charities we are supporting, The Search and Rescue Dog Association (Wales) and our local RSPCA Animal Centre at Bryn y Maen, North Wales.
Our local RSPCA Centre at Bryn y Maen does not have a Just Giving account but money raised through Just Giving will be equalised between the two charities through other monies raised by the genorous donations made through our sponsorship forms.
We are animal lovers both having a variety of different animals which we share our lives with at home. Working at our local RSPCA Animal Centre we see some of the worst that humans (if that is the correct term) can inflicted on the animals we share this world with, but also enjoy witnessing and being involved in the care, rehabilitation and rehoming of those animals which have endured so much. This work is only possible through the generous donations of those people that support the Centres work.
The work of SARDA Wales had been witnessed first hand for many years by John as a qualified handler with SARDA Wales. The volunteer dog handlers and their dogs are on call 24hrs a day 365 days a year and provide a dog trailing and air scenting search and rescue resource for both Mountain Rescue Teams, Coastguard, and Police Forces.
Their search operations vary from searches for missing mountaineers and hill walkers in remote areas, to searches in lowland areas for children, vulnerable adults, and dementia patients. SARDA (Wales) undertake around 80 - 90 callouts per year, and are also available to assist in disaster situations where the services of air scenting dogs are required.
