We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Due to fantastic work and generous donations we have doubled the fundraising total to £5000

Jaguar, Land Rover Paint Shop employees and friends got

on their bikes” to raise money for Cancer Research .

The 35 to 49 year old team of cyclists took part cycling on the canal towpaths on 6th June 2009 in an effort to raise £2000 plus for vital cancer research projects and are urging others to sponsor them online to boost the fundraising target even further.

The 23 strong team, some of whom have not ridden a bike since they were children, completed the 120 mile journey from the Jaguar Cars Castle Bromwich Plant to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen Wales on Mountain bikes.

The journey using only canal towpaths, provided some challenging terrain

for the novice cyclists.

2 Wheels 2 Wales was first conceived after a close family member of the team was diagnosed with cancer and he decided to try and help by raising money and awareness. This inspired work colleagues and friends to join him

on this challenging journey and raise as much money as they could.

Team members on this cycling challenge are Steve Salt, Stephen Champion, Doug Harrower, Neil Cutler, Steve Hedge, Gary Thompson, Nigel Humphris,

Pete Elleman, Darrin McCallum, Mark Newby, Mark Champion, Darren Champion, Mick Appleby, Mick Curtis, Alan Walsh, Neil Newman,

Gavin Bonser, Rash Suleman, Nigel Smith, Red Oudijk, Gary Finch, Paul Yeardley, and Adam Edwards.

2 Wheels 2 Wales is only the start of the fundraising campaign the team are planning, as they hope to make this an annual event and in future years plan

to cycle to Ireland, Scotland and France.

Miranda Williams, Cancer Research representative, said:”The 2 Wheels 2 Team are an amazing inspiration to others, and we are so pleased that they have chosen to support us with this gruelling fundraising event.

“Cancer Research relies entirely on public donations to fund groundbreaking research, which is why it is so important that fundraising events like this are a success."

The ride started at 7.30am Saturday the 6th of June from Jaguar Cars Castle Bromwich Plant and finished at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen Wales on Sunday evening the 7th of June.

The 2 Wheels 2 Wales Team are urging local people to support

Cancer Researchand help them make a difference to those affected by cancer.
