Story
Hiya, Thankyou for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
UPDATE 5/5/10
I did it!!!!!!!! I have completed my first marathon in 6hrs 19mins!!
Thank you to all my family and friends and everyone who has supported me and donated money, you all made the marathon alot easier than i thought it would be.
Sponsor money is continuing to trickle in so i should hopefully reach my target! thank you all!!!!
UPDATE 22/4/10
Thanks to every one who came to my charity night, we managed to raise £500! Not bad for a wednesday night!
Leaving for London in the morning so i can get settled ready for the marathon on Sunday. See if you can spot me on the tele, i have bright pink hair again! :)
Wish me luck!!
I am currently training to run the London Marathon and the charity i am running for is Butterwick Hospice in the Northeast of England.
Butterwick Hospice is very close to my heart because they help to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.
When i was younger they looked after my Aunty Liz who is unfortunately no longer with us. I have always been hugely grateful to Butterwick for all the love and support they gave my family during the difficult times we had while my Aunty Liz was poorly and i have often thought about doing something to help repay their kindness.
Late last year i decided that i would get a place in the London Marathon through Butterwick Hospice. This would be a big challenge for anyone but it is particularly big for me because i have never ran more than a mile before and i am also really unfit!
Despite my personal hurdles (which are meaningless when i think about it) i have managed to complete 8 weeks of my 16 week training plan and i am currently covering distances during my training which i never thought would ever be possible. It is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it and, althought i am finding the training incredibly difficult i still remain dedicated to my goal.
My family (past and present) provide me with the perfect motivation because i want them all to be proud of what i have done and also how much money i have raised for Butterwick Hospice.
As well as running the marathon for my family i am also doing it to prove that anything is possible if you just trust yourself and have a go, even if you are unfit and are 4stone overweight!
Any money you are willing to donate would be greatly apreciated by me, my family and Butterwick. I know money is tight for everyone at the moment (me included!) but even 50p would go towards helping my charity.
Thankyou again for taking the time to visit
Lisa
