URN is the best student radio station in the UK and has been eight times in the last nine years. We offer our members the chance to explore something new, receive quality training, make friends and get stuck into university life. Unfortunately, since September, the quality URN is renowned for has been threatened.
At the end of last year, and as part of the redevelopment of the Portland Building, our studios moved from the basement, where we had been based since 2004. In the move some of the equipment was damaged or not fit for purpose in the new location. Since then, we’ve been making do with very limited kit, which is incredibly temperamental and limits the training we can provide, as well as the scope of our content.
We’re hoping to raise £15,000 towards new equipment for our studio, so that URN can go back to being be a training platform for young people looking to start a career in radio. Any donation, big or small is incredibly appreciated. Many of our members see URN as thefoundation of their university lives and we provide an unrivalled training platform and an opportunity for students in Nottingham to receive professional experience that can launch careers with companies like the BBC, Capital, TalkRadio and LBC to name a few.
