Story
Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at this page. I would also like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to dig deep into your pocket and donate some much needed money. Remember that all proceeds will go to Oxfam. As I am sure you all know, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck
Haiti causing an unfolding humanitarian crisis. Children have been
killed and injured — many are in desperate need of clean water, shelter
and medical help. Early reports indicate a large number of casualties
and widespread damage. The situation for Haiti was already difficult before the earthquake hit
the island. Haiti is the one of the poorest countries in the world and
is struggling to recover from years of violence, insecurity and massive
natural disasters. More than half of the country's 9.6 million
inhabitants are under 21 years of age. As well as having this website for donations, we are arranging a sponsored walk from East Belfast - Comber. It is approximatley 7 miles there, 7 miles back; 14 miles in total. Please, please give all you can - and dont forget to Gift Aid it! If you would like to talk part in the sponsored walk, please email me on walkforhaiti@live.com. I will try and keep you updated on how much money has come in.
