HBJ Gateley Edinburgh, entered 42 runners in the Edinburgh Marathon on 31 May 2015. They ran bravely for Warren’s Wish, which is a charity devoted to making lung transplantation more accessible for those with Cystic Fibrosis and other life-limiting lung conditions. Team HBJ Gateley did us proud, so many thanks to one and all at HBJ! There is still time to donate for those who may not have gotten round to it yet!
Warren Cummings died in February 2014 from Cystic Fibrosis. He was just 31 years old.
Diagnosed late at the age of 16, he nevertheless didn't let his condition get in the way of living as normal a life as possible, and showed tremendous bravery in battling this terrible illness for the last few weeks of his life, which were spent in hospital surrounded by close family and friends. The aim of Warren’s Wish is to extend life through better access to lung transplantation for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis and other life-threatening lung diseases.
Warren married his sweetheart Beverley in February 2013 and tragically died just short of their first wedding anniversary. The bright future they had both looked forward to has been cruelly snatched away, leaving their plans in tatters. Warren never gave up hope, but in the end this cruel disease took over.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetically inherited life-limiting condition. It clogs the lungs with sticky mucus making it difficult for sufferers to breathe, and they need intensive medication and frequent hospital stays throughout their inevitably short lives.
