We are running 274km in 5 days in memory of our daughter P. The route is a cycle route called The Way of the Roses that goes from Bridlington to Morecambe. This will mean running back to back ultra marathons for 5 days - this is a significant challenge considering the furthest we have ever run in one go is 21km.

Here is our reason why:
On Sunday 12th September 2021 we met our daughter in a way no parent wants to meet their child, silently in a birthing room at Stepping Hill Hospital. P was so loved and so longed for, an IVF pregnancy that had already had a million ups and downs and a referral to a fetal medicine specialist. We had found out a few days before that P had lost her fight, and that her little heart had stopped beating and that we would have to deliver her. Our little fighter, our perfect little girl is our why. What happened was and still is horrendous but in this time we met some amazing people, and learnt about some amazing charities and we want to make sure that P makes a difference to this world.

It was 4louis that funded the cuddle cot that enabled us to spend the time we so desperately needed with our daughter after she was born. Saying goodbye was always going to be the hardest thing either of us have ever done but it breaks my heart to think in a different hospital, a different delivery suite we may not have had this opportunity. We don’t want funding and resource to ever be a reason a parent cannot spend time with their child.
A cuddlecot is a piece of specialist equipment to help keep babies cool and prolong the time that families have to spend with them when the worst happens.
When we contacted 4louis for more information on them we were saddened to hear how many hospitals were on their waiting list to supply with a cuddle cot and it was that communication alone that made our decision for us, whatever fundraising challenge we set out to achieve needs to be epic, and needs to be with the aim of clearing that list as much as possible.
