Story

Thanks for visiting the fundraising page of Team Beefer!

Team Beefer needs you!!! "Why are you called Team Beefer?" I hear you cry! You're right, it is a ridiculous name, but it is so apt. Simply because the group of people embarking on this mini adventure are the epitome of what the Royal Marines would refer to as a beefer...we're basically really lazy. Seriously. We often whinge about the walk to McDonalds...two minutes down the road and we've all been known to eat some pretty disgusting stuff just to avoid the walk to the shops to get some real food.

Team Beefer are going to man up and do our very own 30 miler (although granted we won't be doing it in 7/8 hours with 32lb of kit....but it's impressive enough that we're getting out of bed before midday - we're students!) We are leaving from the Royal Marines Reserve in Bermondsey, South London and walking all the way to the Bishop's Stortford High School in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire where my Luke went to school! AND YES, WE WILL BE DRESSING UP BARMY ARMY STYLE! Bermondsey to Bishop's Stortford...it's going to be an epic. It's likely to take about ten hours (Oh ****!) There will be blood, sweat and tears (mostly mine as Rhiannon will probably attack me at some point for making her agree to this!) and scarily enough the route appears to go straight over the M25....there WILL be a bridge right???

So why are such an unlikely group doing this? Well, my other half is currently deployed in Afghanistan with 42 Commando. Being the girlfriend of a Royal Marine means that no matter what I do I will inevitably age horribly due to worry and stress lol! By that I mean that whilst I go about my daily life in London, laughing with my friends and avoiding doing work, I always have Luke in my mind. I am always worried about him and nobody can really understand apart from his lovely family, and all of the other families of deployed service personnel. I can't really sit here and be a nervous wreck until April, that wouldn't help Luke at all...so I must do something helpful for all of the brave servicemen and women who make us all so proud in Iraq and Afghanistan. I hate to think of something bad happening to Luke, but if it did, I would be so grateful for the help of organisations such as Help for Heroes which helps to rehabilitate wounded soldiers. Please go onto the link below to find out more about their projects! http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/

Please please please try and give whatever you can to this cause. This is not about politics or being pro - war, it's just hard to sleep when somebody you love is so far away in danger that you don't even want to think about. Wounded servicemen and women and their families can rebuild their lives thanks to the work done by Help for Heroes, and we can all be a part of that through this walk!

I know that sometimes it's a bit annoying when people ask you for money, and let's be honest, you may not really want to sponsor sometimes! But then again, I'd rather not walk 30 miles in a day dressed like an extra from Dad's Army! So come on, I'm doing something for the Heroes, please do something too by sponsoring me below

Dig deep for Luke, myself and the rest of his family, or for anyone you know that is or has served in the Armed Forces, especially do it for those brave heroes that are no longer with us. All of the men and women currently deployed deserve to know that people care about what they're going through.

Well done Luke and all of the other servicemen and women! We are so proud of you!

Thanks so much to all sponsors! Love from, TEAM BEEFER!!! xxxx
