We help veterans and their families to live the life they deserve after service

Story

Organiser, CSgt John Williams, stationed at Trenchard Lines explains, “I have been serving in the British Army for the last 22 years and know just how devastating it can be to both forces’ personnel and their families when serious and often debilitating injuries are sustained in the line of duty.  There has never been a more important time than now to show our support to the brave men and women who risk their lives to ensure our freedom and I felt it was important to organise my own event in Upavon to give local people an opportunity to get involved in this very worthy charity.”  On Thursday 24th September 6 teams each consisting of 6 service men and women and civilians will be taking part in a unique static bike race at Trenchard Lines, Upavon, in order to raise money for Help for Heroes – the charity dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of wounded service people.

Starting at 10.30am the teams will race for 6 hours nonstop on WebRacing™ bikes which will enable the participants to see themselves racing in a virtual world.  The bikes have been kindly sponsored for the event by Duncan Lawson of Instyle Fitness.  Family, friends and spectators are more than welcome to come along and cheer on the racers and try their luck in the raffle!

Each and every team member is responsible for collecting their own sponsorship money for this very worthy cause so please support us however you can.

The event was opened by Comanding Officer Upavon Support Unit Lt Col G S Mclane  and certificates and trophies were awarded by Fiona Gilbert Help for Heroes County Coordinator for Wiltshire.   The event was very demanding physically, and participants had to really dig deep to finish.  All the competitors thoroghly enjoyed the event.
