*** 15 summits over 3000 feet in 24 hours
*** 27 miles of walking and running
*** 10,000 feet of ascent.

UPDATE ******2nd June 2004******

You will be delighted to hear that our team completed the Welsh 3000ers in a highly respectable 14.5 hours on Sunday 30th May. Andy Chapman dropped out after about four hours muttering words like "mad, cramp, hell, car?", but he still climbed four of the fifteen mountains in a respectable time. At this point, we bumped into Andy 2, who is a tree-surgeon from Whipsnade, who had only intended to climb half of the 3000ers but was persuaded to continue with us to the end. He was horrendously fit, but did not mind waiting for us at the top and bottom of each ascent/descent. He climbs at E4, which is a bit like having a handicap of Scratch in golf.

The weather was a bit iffy on top of Snowdon on Saturday night; I think we each got about two hours sleep in the wind and rain and we were all pretty glad to get up at 4am and start walking. Crib Goch was a challenge in the wet as a fall would have had nasty consequences. Click here for a picture: http://website.lineone.net/~julian.clegg/goch07.htm We reached our first pit-stop at 7.30am, swapped rucksacks for day-sacks and yomped off up Elidir Fawr (950 metres in 1 hour 10 minutes). The sun came out during this climb and all seemed right with the world. We picked off the Glyders in the rain, slid down Tryfan and met our second car at 2pm at Llyn Ogwen where the tea and sandwiches were fantastic. Only another 7 mountains to go and they went in quick succession. Many thanks to Adam's parents, Gill and Steve for meeting us with cold beer and a car at the end of the Carneddau. Pictures will follow. Thanks to everyone for the sponsorship; I am on target to raise around three grand for the Samaritans. If you have not donated through http://www.justgiving.com/welsh3000, I will be coming round to see you shortly! It's not too late to donate through this website and you will be giving an additional 28% in taxback. *** Offline Sponsors *** A massive thankyou to all my offline sponsors who are listed below: Haberdashers Livery Company: £200 Bloomberg L.P. : £1000 Linda and Martin Wells: £100 Tom Secunda: £235 Lex Fenwick: £100 Richard Milliken: £100 Rishi Karir: £50 Jane Clough: £20 Kate Monyo: £10 Michelle Riches: £20 Edward Cartwright: £50 Simon James: £10 Jack Power: £5 Paul Tivnann: £20 Will Varley: £10 Robbie Swan: £10 Nick Buck: £20 Ed Laver: £10 Paul Webb-Jones: £10 Alex Johnson: £10 Guy Parson: £27 Grant Coombe: £50 Adam Joseph: £10 Candice Dott: £20
