We fund research and provide support to improve blood cancer patients' lives

Story

This October a group of 20 inexperienced, but determined Wickes colleagues will take on a massively ambitious challenge to travel to the Ecuadorian Andes and climb 4 giant volcanoes all to help beat blood cancers.

Over 13 days of gruelling high altitude trekking and mountain climbing we will attempt to climb four volcanoes in South America, one of which is still active and another of which is 1,000 feet higher than Mount Kilimanjaro!  This year’s team includes Anjie Carless, Catherine Lake, Coco Boggon, Dave Pearson, Ian Kennedy, Michael Hayne, Jeremy Bird, John Carter, Karen Ridler, Keith Wise, Laura Newton, Chris Boyd, Laura Simmonds, Nick Shields, Nick Hopkinson, Pavan Tiwana, Sally Canning, Sharon Barber, Steve Mason and Sue Bell.

We will have to endure freezing to sweltering temperatures, altitude sickness, very basic accommodation, limited amenities and a lot of muscle ache to complete this climb.  Why are we putting ourselves through so much pain?  Because we are passionate about fundraising for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, the charity partner Wickes have been supporting since late 2006.  We know the money you donate really does save lives – so please dig deep and donate today!  Thank you.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, Justgiving will send your money directly to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
