Worldwide Financial Planning's managing director, Peter McGahan, is a massive supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support after the help they gave his mother when she was dying of cancer. As many people know Peter and Worldwide work hard to support Macmillan, but he wanted to do something to make an even bigger impact. So a team of 16 from Cornwall, Hampshire and Ireland will be heading stateside at the end of October to take part in the spectacular event that is the New York Marathon. Amongst the runners, who like Peter have a strong reason to support Macmillan, is Stephane Delourme - head chef at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. His mother-in-law, Marianne Carmody, died in January this year. She had suffered with cancer for several years. Stephane is running the marathon in her memory and to thank Macmillan for all the support they gave to his wife Rachel's mother and father. While former Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough, Celtic and Republic of Ireland footballer Chris Morris is running in memory of his father, Peter, who died of cancer in 2004. Peter received valuable care by Macmillan nurses, so Chris who has hardly run for 10 years since retiring from football due to several knee injuries, is taking part to say thank you and help Macmillan. Peter, Stephane and Chris will be joined by members of Worldwide, mpad, and Atlantic FM/Excess Energy. They are determined to hit the target and has lined up some amazing fundraising events over the next six months.
