In memory of Rebecca Lafferty

Story

It is difficult to express in a few sentences the void left by the loss of Rebecca. She was both a colleague and a good friend to so many of us.

The Orthopaedic Outcomes Office has lost its leader but she leaves it well established, in a strong position, collecting and collating data to help clinicians and patients understand their orthopaedic care more fully.

Rebecca was a founding member of the National PROMS network and was recently asked to co-ordinate Greater Manchester’s digital outcomes data collection. There was always a project (or 3) on the go, always something to improve or something new to try. We hope we can see each of her projects through to a completion she would be proud of.

We shall miss the Haribo, the homemade cake, the cups of
tea, the reminders in pink and purple, the Whatsapps, and the chats about dogs, books or box sets. Most of all we’ll miss the time we might have spent with Rebecca. We are poorer without her.
