Fundraising for Blood Cancer UK
Welcome to our fundraising page.
Dear all, As you may know my dad was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia few years ago called Hairy cell leukaemia. It is a mature B cell neoplasm. It is usually classified as a sub-type of chronic lymphoid leukemia for convenience. It is uncommon, representing about 2% of all leukemias, or less than a total of 2,000 new cases diagnosed each year in North America and Western Europe combined. I have decided this year to raise funds for the Leukaemia Research charity by participating in the Transrockies RACE, which one of the most difficult mountain biking raid in the world with my friend Kam taking place in the Canadian Rockies over 7 days and nearly 550kms long all off road. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness and money for this terrible disease. Every penny counts and many thanks in advance for your generosity. How to donate ? : Click on SPONSOR ME NOW More information on the Charity : http://www.lrf.org.uk/ What is the TransRockies RACE about ? A maximum of 300 amateur and pro teams are expected to grind their way back and forth over the Continental Divide while bouncing, grunting and pedalling through over 550 kilometres of wilderness trails and 18,000 meters climbing, all part of TransRockies. It will be a test of physical endurance and mental determination for mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the planet. http://www.transrockies.com/ Information on Leukaemia : Leukemia (British English: leukaemia) (Greek leukos λευκός, "white"; aima αίμα, "blood") is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation (production by multiplication) of blood cells, usually white blood cells (leukocytes). Leukemia is a broad term covering a spectrum of diseases. In turn, it is part of the even broader group of diseases called hematological neoplasms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leukemia ThanksXavier and Kam
