Yorkshire Warrior will be competing in one of the ultimate tests of endurance and the human spirit. On the 10th June 2006 four soldiers from the 'Duke of Wellingtons Regiment' will depart New York and row 3100 nautical miles to Falmouth, Cornwall in a 29 ft fibre glass rowing boat.
Racing against fourteen other boats in what is to be the first 4 man race across the North Atlantic, Yorkshire Warrior will push the team to their physical and mental limits. The race is expected to take anything from 45 to 60 days and is completely unsupported. Yorkshire Warrior will be representing all that is best about the Army and Yorkshire: Courage, Determination and Team Work!
"I fully endorse your most worthwhile and challenging endeavour and trust that 'Yorkshire Warrior' will attract wide support. As the adventure training areas of Britain become eroded and overcrowded we must turn to the sea to find real Challenge. I do hope that the good people and companies of Yorkshire will be most generous in supporting you."
