Zenos Famous Five cycle Coast to Coast for our Heroes

Five intrepid but slightly bemused adventurers from Zenos, one of the UK’s leading IT Training companies, are planning to complete the Coast to Coast cycle route between the 25th and 27th of August this year – having given themselves just 5 weeks to prepare!

Dave Storey, Graham Turner, Brian Blackett, Steve Procopis and Jonathan Alsop are all based at Zenos’s and are riding in support of “Help For Heroes”, the national charity that supports our wounded service men and women.

The Coast to Coast or the C2C as it is more commonly known is the UK’s most popular long distance cycle route, and at 140 miles stretches from Whitehaven on the west coast of Cumbria to South Shields on the East Coast.

Dave Storey admits that this is the result of many years of talking about doing something for the charity,

“Like so many people we’ve always wanted to do something to help – but never taken it any further – until now.  The guys all decided that it was time for action – and set ourselves this challenge of completing the ride after only a few weeks of training.  Fortunately we all had a bike each – but that was about it.  We’re relying on lots of support to get us across the country and to raise as much as we can for this deserving cause.

Myself and Graham are both ex-military – and we know just how vital the Help for Heroes Campaign is.  Anything that we can do to raise its profile and raise much needed funds we will gladly do.”

The race is now on – to get into shape to complete the ride but also to gather together the equipment and supplies that they will need to complete the gruelling 140 miles. The team are looking for donations of everything from spare inner tubes to waterproof clothing and accommodation, and all help is gratefully received.

Dave continues, “We’ve already had some fantastic support from Zenos and other companies, including AG Barr who’ve given us energy drinks.  If anyone else wants to offer help and support then they can contact us at the on 0191 260 5045 during office hours, or support us at the Just Giving Website (The site is www.justgiving.com/zenos-C2C). Every single penny we raise is going to the charity – and we are willingly spending our own cash to get us across the country. Any donations we receive mean that there is more cash going to help our injured service men and women.”

We will be posting updates on Just Giving and the Zenos website (www.zenos.com) and will happily recognise and thank all our sponsors there too.”
