Story

I'm undertaking 10 adventurous endurance challenges to raise money for cancer research. Half of us will develop some form of cancer during our lifetimes. It is a vicious disease that touches us all in far too many ways. My ten challenges for Worldwide Cancer Research are:

#1: Climbing the Height of Everest... in Yorkshire's Tallest Building!

79 ascents of Yorkshire's 112m tall Bridgwater Place in Leeds - the equivalent height of Mount Everest which stands at 8848m tall – in 24 hours.

✓ Completed

#2: Cycling4Cancer

An attempt to cycle 150 miles in 48 hours – from my home in Sheffield to my mum's house in southern Wales.

✓ Completed

#3: Walking Across Ireland

A 140 mile coast to coast walk across Ireland, from Galway to Dublin, in seven days.

✓ Completed

#4: The Welsh 3000s Challenge

15 mountains above 3000ft in 24 Hours! Over 35 miles of walking and 3500 metres of ascent in total.

Abandoned at the summit of Snowdon due to dangerous weather conditions.

#5: Tough Mudder

Described as a "hardcore 12 mile-long obstacle courses designed by the Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie." Involves mud, fire, ice-water and 10,000 volts of electricity!

✓ Completed

#6: The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

An attempt to climb the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough - all within 12 hours, and in winter for an added challenge!

✓ Completed

#7: A Half Ironman

A half-Ironman length challenge involving a 56 mile cycle ride; a 1.2 mile swim; and a 13.1 mile run.

#8: The London Marathon

My first marathon. 26.2 miles of pain. My target is to complete the race in under 4 hours.

#9: Walking in My Great-Grandfather's Footsteps: Manchester to Birmingham on Foot

A walk of over 80 miles retracing the route taken by my great-grandfather who, unable to find work in Manchester, walked to Birmingham.

#10: Cycling England Coast to Coast

A cycle journey of 174 miles following Hadrian's Wall from Ravenglass to South Shields.

Bonus Challenge! Walking from Manchester to Sheffield

A 40-mile walk from Manchester city centre back to Sheffield in a single day.

✓ Completed

Each of these challenges will push me firmly beyond my comfort zone in a variety of ways. All costs associated with these challenges will be paid for by myself so every penny donated goes directly towards cancer research.
