Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are a group of 5 friends who have decided to raise money for a girls orphanage in Islamabad, Pakistan. We will be walking a minimum of 10k steps a day and our aim is to raise money for Millie Mittoo Children's Project. 

Group target distance: 1,400,000 steps by end of Feb 2021. 

The primary purpose of MMCP is to provide children of all ages with the best possible foundation to achieve happy and fulfilled lives.  MMCP's first project: Sofia House was set up in April 2009 and provides a home for female orphans. Millie Mittoo Objective is: 

• To provide homes for orphaned children

• To protect and support them for as long as is required

• To facilitate and provide the children with access to a good education

• To be adaptable and responsive to the changing needs of the children

• To be accountable and transparent in all our work

The running cost of the Orphanage is £3000.00 a month and your help will help make a huge difference.

A message from the founder, Nina Ali:

Sofia House is home to 16 girls - all female orphans. It operates as a “home” rather than an orpanage in that the girls live as sisters and it will always be their home - so that even whenever they have grown up, got married or left to go abroad / engage in further studies , it is somewhere they can come back to whenever they need or want to. Saiba our oldest girl got married in 2019 and last year gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Saiba now lives in Lahore with her husband but keeps in contact with her sisters at Sofia House and will visit as soon as safe to do so.

It costs in the region of £36, 000 to run Sofia house, this includes everything building rent, utility bills, school fees, books, clothes and food and of course staff salaries. There is a team of regular staff to look after the girls, carers, housekeeper, part time cook and security guards - being a house full of young females residents and all female staff, the home has one security guard discreetly positioned on a 24/ 7 basis.

The one thing you really need to know about Millie Mittoo Children’s Projects is that every single penny donated is spent on Sofia House and the girls who live there. Not one single penny is spent on administrative costs. All administrative costs are covered by me, my family and friends.

It will also reassure you to know that I try and visit Sofia House at least twice a year(at my own expense) to ensure that all is running smoothly, and that the girls are happy and well. I also spent a lot of time training staff and encouraging them to keep their personal development growing for their own sakes and to promote the highest standard of care for the girls. If you are ever able to visit - the girls would love to see you. In the meantime I am happy to report that the girls are well and thriving - not withstanding the pandemic!
