Story

Why am I raising money?

As you may or may not be aware my daughter was diagnosed with a rare lung tumor (PPB) back in January 09. Due to it's agressive nature she spent 3 months in intensive care at St Georges Hospital on a ventilator. While in PICU she was started on a course of Chemotheropy to shrink the tumor, which went on untill July 09. We have recently had to go to Great Ormond Street Hospital to have the tumor removed along with her right lung and much of her diaphragm. In this time she has been an absolute star and a great inspiration to everyone she has met along this long and difficult journey. We all love her dearly..

Who am I raising money for?

I am trying to raise as much money as I can for the PICU at St Georges hospital.

St George's Hospital has an eight-bed general paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), which cares for children from birth to 16 years.

The unit specialises in general surgery, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, haematology, oncology, infectious diseases and general paediatric intensive care.

Working along side the oncology consultants and doctors they were pivital in saving Zoe's life. As Nikki and myself were there every day for over 3 months we got to know them really well. We cannot praise them enough, they were always positive and kept us informed with everything that was happening. We owe every single person that works there a huge dept of gratitute.

The money raised will help towards the purchase of new equipment for PICU and training for it's staff, so they can continue the great work they do everyday for so many children and their families. So please give generously!

I am also raising money for The Ellenor Lion Hospice, Please see my other justgiving page - www.justgiving.com/3dayironman

What am I doing to raise money?

I have completed the Maidstone 1/2 marathon on the 18th October 2009 (www.maidstoneharriers.co.uk). Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, it was a great success.

Then next year I am completing a 3 day Ironman (I made this up myself),

It consists of:

Virgin London Marathon (www.virginlondonmarathon.com) - 25th April 2010 (26.4 miles)

Swim (Location TBC) - 2nd or 9th May 2010 (2.4 miles)

The castle 100 Bike ride (www.action.org.uk/get_involved/castle_ride_2010) - 16th May 2010 (100 miles)
