We - Shaun Adcock, Kate Bailey, Dav Baulch, Mira Blumhagen, Simon Booth, Joe Brookes, David Collier, Matt Collier, Lisa Cross, Matthew Dale, Alex Dunn, Chris Hall, Dan Heathcote, Richard Higgins, Graham Horsley, Alexander James, Kev Landells, David Letts, Michael Letts, Malcolm Morrissey, Mark Phillips, Andy Pigott, Justin Robson, Mike Routh and Thomas Spriggs - intend to walk 30 miles in 12 hours along the Pennine Bridleway and High Peak Trail on the 30th April 2010 in aid of Help for Heroes.
This will be the 3rd time that this event has taken place and it was inspired by the "yomp" which the Royal Marines do at the end of their basic training. They do this across Dartmoor whilst carrying full gear. Some of us will also be carrying 30lb packs, please ask individual team members for details.

Help for Heroes, has helped thousands of service personnel since it was founded in 2007. This is including Lance Corporal Ross Austin of the 59 Independent Commando Squadron (RE) which is attached to the Royal Marines. Ross suffered serious injuries to the back of one leg and lost toes by an explosions caused by an IED during Operation Herrick 9 in 2008-2009. Following his return to the he has had to have his leg amputated due to surgery failures and pain. He is now at receiving treatment and rehabilitation. ( was set up by Help for Heroes as a rehabilitation centre for wounded service personnel). His aim is to continue his career in the armed forces in the future. So far over £40 million has been raised and as there will sadly be more people in the future with injuries like the one Ross has suffered. More money needs to be raised to provide the medical care and support which these people need and deserve.
So please dig deep and donate now.
