Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Why should you donate?

Problems in third world countries can only get better with the help from generous donors like you. That is why we have decided to fundraise for a dedicated and accomplished charity called Harpenden Spotlight on Africa, to help areas affected by absolute poverty. To help raise funds we have decided to climb the three peaks in order to help people in need, especially during this time of Covid-19 with the devastating effects of lockdown and a curfew.

Read about Moses who is 9yrs old. HSoA reached out to Moses and his grandmother who had not eaten for 2 days to give them life saving food. Copy and paste the link below into your internet search to read more:

What is special about this Charity?

This charity sends 96% (the rest covers administrative costs) of funds raised directly to their team in Uganda, with everyone in the UK working for the charity volunteering their time to help achieve its' goals; these being: to help educate the future generation (who would be left to endure manual labour from a young age otherwise), provide clean and safe water to these communities, provide health improvements [through both training healthcare professionals and building a local clinic (turned emergency hospital)], and finally by helping them set up businesses and other income generating projects, in order to help them generate their own wealth, and sustain economic growth of the local communities.

The Challenge?

Ben Nevis (1,345m or 4,415ft)

Scafell Pike (978m or 3,209ft)

Snowdon (1085m or 3,560ft)

Tom, Josh, James, Fergus and Annabel will be climbing all of these great peaks in just 24 hours. Training will be very hard and necessary before the climb.

-Ben Nevis 11am – 4pm

-Scafell Pike 9:30pm – 1.30am

-Snowdon 6:30am – 11am

Only 40% of attempts are successful within 24 hours with 50% being successful within 25.5 hours.

Extra Information:

For every £1 given, 25p is added from Gift Aid (If you are a taxpayer) to the charity.

Please take some time to look at the few out of many Photos showing the charity's numerous accomplishments, the communities they help and the difference money from generous donators like yourselves make.
