The Dorking 10 · 17 December 2008

Every year we support thousands of children and families right across the country. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community.

Story

The 40 Running 10 team was set up by Will and Ali Massey. In the summer of 2006, Will’s godson Ollie Jack choked on a handful of grapes and suffered severe brain damage. Following this terrible accident he spent several months at The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

The Children's Trust provides care, education and therapy to children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs. Their services are available to children from across the UK and range from special education for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities to short breaks, transitional, palliative and long term care. They also run the UK's largest rehabilitation centre for children who have an acquired brain injury like Ollie’s.

Will and Ali decided to raise money for this special charity. Will ran the London Marathon www.justgiving.com/williammassey and Ali ran the Dorking 10, a 10 mile road race through the lanes between Dorking and Reigate in Surrey. This event coincided with her 40th Birthday. Not wishing to run it alone, she roped in 40 (+) family and friends to run with her and formed the 40 Running 10  team.  They were a mixed bunch with a few experts, several like Ali who had previously struggled to run 5 miles and over a third of the team who took up running especially for this event!

Please support the 40 Running 10 team by donating generously and giving the children at The Children’s Trust the best possible care and quality of life they can enjoy. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Children’s Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, your donation will be further increased through Gift Aid. If you are supporting a particular member of the team, please include their name in the comments box on the sponsorship page.
