STOP PRESS: Due to injury sustained on Helvellyn while training (a fall), Simon has torn his quad muscle and we'll now be doing the challenge in August :-(

My 15-year-old son Tom and I are privileged to know a fantastic, brave boy called Joseph who has cystic fibrosis. He has an incredibly positive approach to the daily challenges he faces which has inspired Tom and I to do our own challenge to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

We're massive fans of the great outdoors so we've tailor-made our own adventure across four days in the Lake District, basing ourselves at the Camping and Caravanning Club's Keswick site. Each day we will undertake a different activity that will challenge us both mentally and physically.

We will:

• Trek up Scafell and Scafell Pike, the latter being England's highest mountain
• Cycle 50 miles (we think on a tandem)
• Do a ridgeline scramble up Striding Edge to Helvellyn and down Swirral Edge (Simon doesn't like heights)
• Canoe around the shoreline of Derwentwater.
