When Ciara was just about 6 months my Dad carried her out to my parents garden to look at a yellow rose that had just begun to bloom. It struck me that Ciara, although smiling and happy, didn’t seem to see the flower no matter how he manoeuvred and positioned her to get a better look. It really was the first fleeting realisation that Ciara could be Blind.
Just a few months after that day in the garden, we were enveloped by the guidance and help The Royal Blind gave us and continues to do so to this day.
As a thank you we would love to create a beautiful garden for Ciara, the young adults, the staff who live and work there but also to celebrate the memory of friends of The Royal Blind’s Forward Vision who may have gone but will never be forgotten. So on the 28th August SarahJane, Kathy and I will begin our 500 miles trek on The Camino de Santiago inspired by James Graham (SJ’s Dad) who completed the pilgrimage in August 2003. If you can help by donating, fundraising, giving time or even joining us at any stage of our walk, we'd be very grateful. All of the money raised will go directly to the project. Thank you.
