Story

Associated British Ports (ABP)  is sponsoring Yacht “Tacktic”, which will be competing in the Rolex Fastnet Race, in order to raise money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

The race starts at Cowes on Sunday 6th August, sailing around the Fastnet Rock south west of Ireland and returning to a finish at Plymouth, a distance of over 600 nautical miles.

ABP is supporting the Jubilee Sailing Trust  which is a
well established charity providing sail training for able-bodied and disabled people onboard its two tall-masted ships “Lord Nelson” and “Tenacious”.

Yacht "Tacktic” is owned and skippered by Dan Rigden, a
friend and colleague of Callum Couper, ABP’s Port Manager for the Ports of Cardiff and Barry, and has a crew of 7 overall all of whom work in the maritime sector.

ABP are inviting friends of the company to also support team "Tacktic" and raise even more money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

We hope that you can contribute to this fund raising effort to assist the Jubilee Sailing Trust in delivering a fantastic  experience of life at sea for people of all physical abilities.

UPDATE

We're pleased to announce that  Yacht Tacktic successfully finished the race in 4 days, 16 hours, and 39 mins.

The team finished:

  • 32nd/83 in their Class
  • 138th/307 in the overall results

Despite strong westerly winds for most of the outward journey the crew and boat successfully completed the race without any injuries or damage.
