Story

Words by Michelle Pryke

"On 29th May 2007 my incredibly gorgeous sister left this earth to join the angels aged 38. My sister had cancer. She hated that word. She was an infectious party diva with a lust for life, family, friends and vodka! She was a dancing queen. Dancing queens don't get cancer!

My girl styled it out. She done cancer her way. Those that remember my sister, even in those cancer days will hold fantasic memories. Sure she had her down days, that was unbearable to watch. But i like to remember the good times. I always remember her flinging her wig across the room and dancing the night away with her Fester Adams head. Having a fag where-ever and when-ever she wanted! Where she danced, we all danced with her. But sometimes she got tired.

Angela married Paul and became a Hemsworth. The wedding was organised within two weeks. Ok so i may seem biased but that was one hell of a wedding! Every emotion was felt that day. As a bride she was stunning. There wasnt a dry eye in the church as she walked down the isle looking as glam and gorgeous as ever. She ensured our morning of tears turned into an evening of celebration. The reception was a proper shin-dig, a good ol' cockney knees up. She laughed and danced right up until the end. She even done the can-can even though she admitted to me she was in immence pain. She just wanted us all to be happy and her wedding to be cancer free. Who would have thought exactly a year later we would all be standing back in church for her memorial service.

As time went on she could no longer hide the pain. As a family we went to India. What beautiful memories. We relaxed, spent time together, swam in the sea and bought cheap shit from the beach sellers. We celebrated Chismas Eve on baga beach with fireworks. We sang and danced on Chistmas Day. Our Dancing queen had become too tired to dance. She would watch us dance for her with a smile on her face, happy that we were happy. But secretly longing to dance with us.

Angela spent her last few days being cared for at Havering Atte Bower Saint Frances Hospice. The staff were absolutely amazing. They cared not only for my sister, but for us as a distraught family. Those last few days are very personal and difficult to express without being reduced to tears. All i would like to share with you is how incredible the staff were, ensuring my sister remained dignified at all times. Even after her death. It is so important that the service the hospice provides is recogised an honoured.

So PLEASE PLEASE sponser Adam in memory of my sister Angela and help to honour Saint Francis Hospice

Those that have lost a loved one will know the utter pain and devistation it causes. My heart and love goes out to you. Our lives will never be the same again xxx

Angela i miss and love you so much. I like to think you are up there happy on your cloud laughing, dancing, drinking vodka and being completely free xxxxxxxxx
