We fund research and provide support to anyone affected by breast cancer.

Story

Being asked to sponsor someone is always a bit of a pain, so I just want to explain why I am running a marathon.

I am possibly being a little optimistic having recently turned 40 to be attempting to run 26 miles - but I really want to support what I think is a very worthwhile cause.

Breast cancer is now the most common form of cancer, with 46,000 new women being diagnosed each year. As a GP I see the impact of the disease and its effects on individuals on a daily basis. Since it affects so many women there are very few people who do not know someone personally who has at some point been diagnosed with this condition. As well as many of my patients being affected, last year a close family member of mine was diagnosed, which brings this cause all the more close to my heart.

The charity that I am raising money for is called 'Breakthrough Breast Cancer', who are doing fantastic work in raising awareness, supporting research and promoting preventative measures.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I am extremely grateful to you for considering this cause.
