Story
As I spend so much time walking down / cleaning up/ drinking near and living by the River Thames, I figured it was time to get to know it better, whilst half killing myself in the process. It's 184 miles from the source near Kemble in Gloucestershire to the Thames Barrier in Woolwich. I'll be doing it on my own and , no doubt, visiting a range of riverside pubs en route . Since I moved to Rotherhithe last year to be near the Thames it feels appropriate that I use this opportunity to give something back to the wonderful community that I now find myself living in.
Bede House are a Rotherhithe and Bermondsey based charity that do wonderful work with people affected by domestic violence, hate crime ( including the LGBT community) and also young people with learning difficulties. It would be great if I achieve something more from this walk than just a sense of satisfaction and a dislocated hip, so please donate something if you can. It will spur me on to the next pub !
