I completed the "daft" race in 22hrs 55mins. We encountered very hot conditions and got sun burnt! Couldn't have managed without the support team.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2010 is a year of many anniversaries for my family and myself. My brother Bill hits the big 50 and celebrates his silver wedding anniversary. I celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary. Significantly its 25 years since my Dad, Bill Strain, was taken from us prematurely, by cancer. You can see a picture of him as we remember him above.

Given the coming together of all these important dates I decided to do something I will never do again - run an ultra marathon! From the 18th to 21st March I will run 120 miles around the beautiful Hungarian Lake Balaton. This is a stage race so I will be required to complete 30 miles per day within set times. I'll be running this for my Dad, his memory and legacy and also for Cancer Research UK. We all know someone who has been taken from us or affected by Cancer so to make this my charity of choice was simple.

I am indebted to my brother Bill who will manage support for me on this daft race, my friend and colleague Brent Haywood who will run with me (he's a Kiwi so naturally a fitness nutter!), my friends Tim Halpin and Graeme Forrester who will cheer me on from their bikes and my pal Mick Warrington who has been partnering me in the long training runs. My thanks, always, to my Dad, his guidance and support - I'll never forget.
