We work through volunteers to bring about lasting change

Story

I’m really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with VSO on an International Citizen Service placement. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. My overseas placement begins on the 7th June and ends 30th August in the West Akim District of the Eastern Region in Ghana, where VSO work to help improve livelihoods by increasing incomes, promoting and encouraging education, and helping to reduce the high youth unemployment rate.

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of VSO and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue to send youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

Amongst other things, I’ll be raising more funds by tennis coaching and bake sales and you can keep track of how I get on here on my Justgiving page.

Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!

Thanks for your support!
