Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and thank you for your donation however big or small, it all helps. Please come along to the big day as well, if you haven’t seen a London Marathon in person you’ll be amazed by the emotion of the big day for runners and spectators alike.

Please donate what you can to this truly excellent cause making a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable & disadvantaged children. The Children's Society aims to give every child in this country the greatest possible chance in life & we are determined to raise a sum that will really help make a difference.

Pheidippides, the greek chap who died after delivering his message of ‘Joy to you, We’ve won’, to Athens, is famed for running the first Marathon. Since then many have embarked upon the feet, some painted head to toe in gold, dressed as a Rhino or even diver’s suit. Ali and Duncan (in that order as undoubtably that’s how they’ll finish) have decided to take up the challenge too. It will be a very challenging run for us both. 26.21875 miles!!!! Those who know Ali will be aware following any half marathon she's undertaken, she's vowed never to do another, let alone a full marathon. For those that know Duncan, he is very unlucky when it comes to injury (almost pathetically so), certainly before big events. Whether this be in rugby, standing on pint glasses the day before triathlons or generally just standing up and breaking! This truly is a huge challenge, not just on the day but the miles and miles covered in training not to mention putting up with Duncan’s constant moaning.
